What every job includes

Our 9-point safety check.

Every clean is the same thorough job, start to finish. Here is exactly what we do.

1

Full duct run cleaned

The entire vent line, from the dryer connection to the exterior wall.

2

Blockages removed

Lint buildup and obstructions that restrict airflow, cleared out.

3

Dryer connection resecured

We check the dryer-to-duct joint for gaps and re-seal it.

4

Airflow verified, before and after

We measure airflow at the exterior vent both times, so you see the difference.

5

Exterior vent hood cleared

The flap opens and closes freely, debris and any nesting removed.

6

Duct material assessed

We flag any flammable foil or plastic duct as a fire-safety note.

7

Lint trap housing cleaned

The screen plus the housing it sits in, where fine lint packs first.

8

Behind-dryer area cleaned

Loose lint from behind and around the dryer, tidied up.

9

Final test run

We run a test cycle and confirm proper draw and exhaust before we finish.

Every job gets a full report.

The nine checks ticked off, before-and-after photos, and notes from Brent.

Page one of a NestFlo service report: client and appointment details, the nine-point safety inspection all ticked off, and airflow at the exterior vent measured at 56.24 CFM before and 159.3 CFM after. Page two: before and after photographs of the vent duct run, the exterior vent hood and the area below the lint trap, followed by the technician's written notes.
Brent, founder of NestFlo
Meet Brent

The founder does every job.

Brent has an engineering degree and a background in home inspection, where he watched again and again as the most expensive repairs started out small and ignored, like a clogged vent no one thought to check. He knows exactly what a clean, correctly vented dryer should look like, and what a neglected one leads to.

Every cleaning follows the same approach: a careful checklist, honest flat pricing, before-and-after photos, and a personal touch. Because NestFlo isn't a franchise, you get Brent and his standard on every job, not a rotating crew, and no corporate markup on the price.

Reviews

What neighbours are saying.

Our most recent Google reviews. NestFlo sits at 5.0 stars.

  • I was housesitting for my daughter when the dryer I was using sent out a warning message on the monitor. Not wanting to take a chance of a major mishap and fire I contacted Brent at NestFlo via text. He responded in a timely manner and we were able to set up an appointment for Monday. Brent showed up in time, presented himself in a professional manner and was wonderful dealing with the over exuberant family dog. Brent explained what he was doing, cleaned the vent in time and when he left I felt very comfortable finishing off the laundry. I give Brent and NestFlo 5 stars because the overall experience was excellent.

Why it's worth doing

Three good reasons to keep it clear.

local_fire_department

Lower fire risk

Lint is highly flammable, and a blocked vent is one of the most common causes of dryer fires. A clean vent takes that risk right down.

bolt

Faster drying

When hot, damp air can actually escape, clothes dry in one cycle instead of two. Less waiting, less wear on the machine.

savings

Lower energy bills

A clear vent lets your dryer run the way it was designed to, which means less energy used and a longer life for the appliance.

The risk, in numbers

Dryer fires are common. They're also preventable.

Most start in fall and winter, right when your dryer is working hardest.

Good to know

Questions homeowners ask.

How much does a dryer vent cleaning cost?add

Your first cleaning is $179, and it is $199 flat after that. The price is agreed before we start. No meter running, no upsell on the day.

What equipment do you actually use?add

A rotary rod system with a counter-rotating scrub head that cleans the full run, up to 100 feet. Compressed air and a HEPA-filtered vacuum, so lint leaves in a sealed tank. A camera to confirm the duct is clear, and an air sled so your dryer moves without marking the floor.

Why isn't a shop vac at the opening good enough?add

Lint doesn't sit at the opening. It packs along the whole run, worst at bends and the outside termination, exactly where a vacuum at one end can't reach. Ontario's building code requires dryer ducts to be cleanable end to end for a reason. We brush the full length, then prove it's clear with a camera.

How often should it be cleaned, honestly?add

Once a year, and the manufacturers agree: Whirlpool says every one to two years, Samsung says once or twice a year. Daily loads, pets, or a long run with bends deserve every six to eight months. And don't wait for the vent warning light. On dryers that have one, it only trips at roughly 60 percent blocked.

How do I know mine needs it now?add

Towels needing a second cycle is the big one. Also: a hot laundry room, damp or musty loads, lint behind the machine, or a burning smell. Free test: run the dryer and watch the outside flap. It should swing wide open. If it barely trembles, the run is choking.

Is the flex hose behind my dryer safe?add

White vinyl or plastic hose is no longer approved at all, and Toronto Fire Services warns it can ignite. Thin foil hose crushes easily and is only meant as a short connector. The right setup is rigid metal, with a listed UL 2158A transition behind the dryer, eight feet max, never inside a wall. We check yours on every visit.

Should my vent have a screen or cage over it?add

No. Screens over a dryer vent are code-prohibited, and GE says never install one. A screen is a lint trap: it loads up and becomes the blockage. The right pest defence is a hood whose damper closes when the dryer is off. We test that flap on every visit.

What actually happens during the visit?add

Both ends open: the dryer comes out on the air sled, the hood comes off the wall. The rotary head brushes the full run, the HEPA vacuum captures it, compressed air finishes, and a camera confirms it's clear. You get before-and-after photos and the 9-point documented check. About 45 to 60 minutes.

My run is long, exits the roof, or I'm in a condo. Can you clean it?add

Usually, yes, and long runs are where the gear matters. The building codes cap a standard run at 35 feet, and every 90-degree elbow counts as five more, so long runs depend on being kept spotless. Our rods reach up to 100 feet and clean around bends. If a run needs more than a cleaning, we'll say so.

Does every dryer need this?add

Every vented dryer, gas or electric. Gas models also rely on the duct to carry combustion byproducts outside, so those matter twice. The exception: heat-pump and condensing dryers are ventless, so there's nothing to clean, and we'll tell you that on the phone rather than charging you to find out.
